A safe, supportive space to heal, grow and reconnect with yourself
Welcome, I’m Karen, an Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor,
based in Potton, near Sandy in Bedfordshire.

Choosing a counsellor is a deeply personal decision. You may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply aware that something in your life doesn’t feel quite right — and you want support from someone who will truly listen and understand.

As an integrative counsellor, I believe there is no “one-size-fits-all” approach to therapy. Each person’s experiences, challenges, and needs are unique, and our work together will reflect that.
I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches, carefully tailored to you, so that our sessions feel supportive, flexible, and meaningful rather than rigid or prescriptive.

My role is to offer a safe, non-judgemental space where you can speak openly and be met with compassion, respect, and genuine care. Together, we will explore what’s happening for you at your own pace — helping you gain deeper insight, develop healthier coping strategies, and reconnect with your strengths.

Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, trauma, or simply feeling lost or disconnected, I will work alongside you to help you make sense of your experiences and move towards positive, lasting change.

I don’t believe in “fixing” people — I believe in empowering you to better understand yourself and find your own way forward.

You don’t have to face things alone. Reaching out for support can be the first step towards greater clarity, resilience, and self-acceptance, and I would be honoured to support you on that journey.

Taking the first step can feel daunting. If you’d like to make contact, you’re welcome to reach out by phone, email, or text at a pace that feels right for you.

Initial Session
When you first make contact we will arrange an appointment for a initial session where we will look at your personal situation for seeking counselling. This will enable you to feel whether counselling can help and whether you feel I am the right counsellor for you. There is no obligation to attend further sessions.
My Approach

I am a Somatic-Informed Trauma Counsellor, which means I work with both the mind and body.

Trauma affects more than just the mind — it deeply impacts the body too.
It's not only about what happened to you, but also about what happened inside of you as a result. And trauma isn’t always caused by a specific event — it can also come from what you didn’t receive growing up: the emotional attunement, safety, support, or love that every child needs to thrive.

When those needs go unmet, we may adapt in ways that help us survive but later leave us feeling anxious, disconnected, or unworthy. We might struggle with boundaries, trust, emotional regulation, or feeling “at home” in our own bodies.

In response to trauma — whether obvious or subtle — the body can hold onto stress, tension, and unprocessed emotion. Over time, this can lead to chronic anxiety, burnout, or even physical symptoms.

Through therapy, we gently explore these responses and begin the process of reconnecting with your body and emotions. This mind-body integration helps to regulate the nervous system, restore a sense of internal safety, and build the foundations for healing and growth.
It’s a process of coming home to yourself — feeling grounded, empowered, and alive again.

At the heart of my practice is a person-centred philosophy. This means that our sessions are guided by you — because you are the expert in your own life. Nobody else can truly know what it is like to be you, and I respect and honour that.

I also draw on psychodynamic principles, which involve exploring how our early relationships and past experiences shape the way we think, feel, and behave in the present. By making sense of these patterns, we can begin to understand how they influence our current relationships and discover new, healthier ways of relating to ourselves and others.

My work often supports people experiencing anxiety, stress, and depression by helping them recognise patterns of behaviour, identify triggers, and gain insight into their ways of coping and connecting.

Beginning counselling can feel daunting, but it is often the first step towards positive and lasting change. If you would like to find out more about how we might work together, please feel free to contact me by phone, text, or email.
