Counselling in Potton, Bedfordshire & Online Throughout the UK

Welcome, I'm Karen

I'm a BACP Accredited Integrative Counsellor based in Potton, Bedfordshire. I offer face-to-face counselling locally (near Sandy and Biggleswade), as well as online sessions across the UK.

People often come to me after struggling for some time with anxiety, overthinking, self-doubt, people-pleasing, emotional overwhelm, or difficulties in relationships. You may spend a lot of time thinking about conversations afterwards, wondering whether you said the wrong thing or upset someone. Perhaps you find it difficult to set boundaries, put your own needs first, or trust your own thoughts and feelings.

You might recognise patterns in your relationships that seem to keep repeating, even though you don't fully understand why. Sometimes these difficulties may be connected to earlier experiences or relationships, even when it isn't immediately obvious why you feel the way you do.

Counselling gives us the opportunity to explore these experiences together, without judgement and without expecting you to have everything worked out before you begin.

Why You Might Be Seeking Support

You don't need to know exactly why you are feeling this way before coming to counselling. We can begin with what is happening in your life right now and gently explore what lies beneath it, at a pace that feels completely manageable for you.

You might be looking for support because you are:

  • Feeling anxious: Constantly on edge, overwhelmed, or unable to fully relax.

  • Overthinking: Frequently replaying conversations in your mind or worrying about what others think.

  • Struggling with self-doubt: Carrying a persistent feeling of "not good enough."

  • People-pleasing: Finding it difficult to set clear boundaries or put your own needs first.

  • Navigating relationship patterns: Noticing the same difficult dynamics or patterns repeating over time.

  • Feeling disconnected: Experiencing emotional overwhelm, feeling shut down, or detached from yourself.

  • Lacking safety: Finding it difficult to trust others or feel secure in your relationships.

  • Carrying the past: Living with the ongoing effects of difficult childhood experiences or past relationships.

I am a BACP Accredited Member (MBACP Accred) holding a CPCAB Level 5 Diploma in Somatic Trauma Therapy.

Clients often describe my approach as calm, warm, and easy to talk to.

I understand that reaching out for support can feel daunting especially if you are used to coping alone or putting other people’s needs before your own.

My aim is to build a safe, collaborative relationship where you feel accepted and supported to explore whatever you bring to therapy.

How I Can Help

As an integrative counsellor, I don't believe that one approach fits everyone. Our work together is entirely collaborative, and you will never be pushed to talk about anything before you feel ready.

By drawing on different therapeutic models, we can consider both what is happening in your life now and how your earlier experiences may be influencing you today:

  • Person-Centred Therapy: Offering a warm, safe, and completely non-judgemental space where you are truly heard, accepted, and supported to explore things at your own pace.

  • Psychodynamic Understanding: Looking gently at past relationships and hidden patterns to understand why you feel or relate to others the way you do now.

  • Somatic Trauma Therapy: Integrating a trauma-informed approach to explore how difficult life experiences affect you both emotionally and physically.

Practice Location & Accessibility

My face-to-face practice is based in a comfortable, private room in Potton, Bedfordshire. It is within easy reach of Sandy, Biggleswade, Gamlingay, St Neots, and the surrounding areas of Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.

  • Physical Access: Please note that my practice room is located on the first floor and is accessed via stairs only, with no lift available.

  • Alternative Options: If steps present a barrier for you, I also offer flexible online video counselling throughout the UK, as well as telephone sessions, to completely suit your needs and schedule.

Taking the First Step

Reaching out for support can feel like a major step, especially if you are used to managing everything by yourself. You don't need to have everything worked out before contacting me, or even know exactly what you want to talk about yet.

You are very welcome to get in touch by email or through the contact form below to ask any questions you may have, or to tell me a little about what you are looking for. If you feel ready to go ahead, we can arrange an initial session and simply begin from there.
