A safe, supportive space to heal, grow and reconnect with yourself
Welcome, I’m Karen, an Integrative Counsellor and Somatic Trauma Therapist based in Potton, near Sandy in Bedfordshire both in person and online.
You may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or constantly on edge, as though something isn’t quite right, even if you can’t fully explain why.
Perhaps you find yourself overthinking, struggling in relationships, or doubting your own worth. You may feel stuck in patterns that are hard to change, or disconnected from yourself in a way that’s difficult to put into words.
For many people, these feelings are rooted in earlier experiences, times when you didn’t feel safe, supported, or truly seen. If this resonates, you are not alone, and there is nothing wrong with you. And often, just recognising that can bring a small sense of relief, as if part of you has finally been understood.
You don’t need to be fixed; you just need a space where what you’re feeling can be understood, held, and gently explored.
This is what I offer, a calm, steady counselling space in Bedfordshire or online, where you don’t have to have the right words or any answers at all. We will go at your pace, working with whatever feels most important for you, without pressure or judgement.
Choosing a counsellor is a deeply personal decision. You may already know you’re struggling, or you may simply feel that something in your life doesn’t feel quite right. Whatever has brought you here, you don’t have to face it alone. If you feel ready, you are very welcome to get in touch, and we can explore how I might support you.
Issues I Can Help With
You may not always have the words for what you’re experiencing, but you might recognise some of the following:
-
Feeling anxious, on edge, or unable to fully relax
-
Overthinking or finding it hard to switch your mind off
-
Struggling with self-doubt or feeling “not good enough”
-
Finding relationships difficult or repeating the same patterns
-
Feeling unsure of yourself or lacking confidence
-
Difficulty trusting others or feeling safe in relationships
-
People-pleasing or finding it hard to set boundaries
-
Feeling emotionally overwhelmed, or at times shut down or numb
-
A sense of feeling disconnected from yourself
-
Carrying the effects of difficult or painful childhood experiences
-
Grief, loss, or feeling emotionally stuck
If any of this resonates, I offer a calm, supportive space where we can gently explore whatever you’re experiencing, at a pace that feels right for you.
My Approach
I hold a Level 5 Diploma in Somatic Trauma Therapy and am trained as an integrative counsellor. This means I draw from a range of approaches to suit you as an individual, rather than using a one-size-fits-all method.
My somatic training allows us to gently include the body in our work, helping to process experiences that may not always have words. We always work at a pace that feels safe, steady, and manageable for you.
At the heart of my practice is a person-centred approach. This means our sessions are led by you. You are the expert on your own life, and I will support you in exploring your thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a way that feels safe, contained, and respectful of your pace.
I also work psychodynamically, which means we may gently explore how earlier relationships and experiences could still be shaping how you feel and relate today. This is not about analysis or judgement, but about helping patterns begin to make sense in a way that feels relieving and meaningful.
A key part of my work is understanding how trauma can live not only in the mind, but also in the body. You may notice feelings of anxiety, being on edge, emotional overwhelm, or a sense of disconnection from yourself without fully understanding why. Together, we begin to gently build awareness of these responses so your nervous system can start to feel safer and more regulated over time.
As this happens, many people begin to feel more grounded, more connected, and more able to understand themselves — often describing a sense of “coming home” to who they are.
My work often supports people experiencing anxiety, stress, and depression by helping them recognise patterns, identify triggers, and develop greater awareness of how they cope and connect.
Beginning counselling can feel daunting, but it is often the first step towards positive and lasting change.
Please feel free to contact me by phone, text, or email.
