A safe, supportive space to heal, grow and reconnect with yourself
Welcome, I’m Karen
I am an Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor and Somatic Trauma-Informed Therapist based in Potton, near Sandy in Bedfordshire, offering individual counselling for anxiety, relationship difficulties, emotional overwhelm, and the lasting impact of difficult life experiences, both in person and online.
You may be feeling anxious, emotionally overwhelmed, or constantly on edge, even if you cannot fully explain why. Perhaps you find yourself overthinking conversations, doubting yourself, struggling in relationships, or feeling emotionally exhausted from trying to hold everything together.
You may notice patterns such as people-pleasing, shutting down emotionally, difficulty trusting others, or feeling disconnected from yourself in ways that are hard to put into words.
For many people, these responses develop through earlier experiences where they learned to adapt, stay emotionally guarded, or put others’ needs before their own in order to feel safe, accepted, or loved. Over time, this can affect self-esteem, relationships, anxiety levels, and sense of self.
If this resonates with you, you are not alone.
I offer a calm, steady, and supportive space where you do not need to have the right words or everything figured out before starting therapy. We will work at a pace that feels manageable for you, exploring whatever feels most important without pressure or judgement.
Together, we can begin to understand how your past experiences may still be shaping the way you feel, respond, and relate today. As this understanding deepens, many people begin to feel more emotionally grounded, more connected to themselves, and better able to navigate difficult thoughts, emotions, and relationships.
Choosing a counsellor is a deeply personal decision. You may already know you are struggling, or you may simply feel that something in your life does not feel quite right. Whatever has brought you here, you do not have to face it alone.
If you feel ready, you are very welcome to get in touch and we can explore how I might support you.

About me
I am a BACP Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP Accred).
I hold a CPCAB Level 5 Diploma in Somatic Trauma Therapy and am committed to ongoing professional and personal development through regular Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training and clinical supervision.
My Approach
I am trained as an integrative counsellor, which means I draw from a range of approaches to support you as an individual, rather than working in a one-size-fits-all way.
My work is trauma-informed and combines person-centred, psychodynamic, and somatic approaches.
At the heart of my practice is a person-centred approach, meaning our sessions are led by you. You are the expert on your own life and experiences, and therapy offers a space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, relationships, and patterns with curiosity and compassion rather than judgement.
I also work psychodynamically, which means we may explore how earlier relationships and experiences may still be influencing how you feel and relate today. This is not about analysis or blame, but about helping patterns begin to make sense in a way that feels meaningful and relieving.
Alongside talking therapy, my somatic training helps clients understand how anxiety, stress, and trauma can affect the nervous system and body as well as the mind. You may notice feeling constantly alert, emotionally overwhelmed, shut down, or disconnected from yourself without fully understanding why.
Together, we build awareness of these responses so your nervous system can begin to feel safer and more regulated over time.
As this happens, many people begin to feel calmer, more grounded, more connected to themselves, and better able to understand their emotional experiences — often describing a sense of “coming home” to themselves again.
