A safe, supportive space to heal, grow and reconnect with yourself

Welcome, I'm Karen

Helping adults who struggle with anxiety, self-doubt, people-pleasing, emotional overwhelm, and relationship difficulties to develop greater confidence, self-understanding, and emotional wellbeing.

I am an Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor and Somatic Trauma Therapist based in Potton, Bedfordshire. I offer both in-person counselling and online counselling for clients across Bedfordshire and throughout the UK.

You may find yourself overthinking conversations, doubting yourself, struggling to set boundaries, or feeling responsible for other people's feelings and needs.

Perhaps relationships feel difficult, or you often put others first while neglecting your own needs.

You may feel anxious, emotionally overwhelmed, disconnected from yourself, or exhausted from trying to hold everything together. Many people I work with have spent years coping in this way without fully understanding why.

Sometimes people come to counselling believing their childhood was "fine", yet still find themselves struggling with self-esteem, people-pleasing, difficult relationship patterns, or a constant sense of anxiety and self-doubt. Together, we can begin to make sense of these experiences with curiosity and compassion rather than judgement.

If any of this feels familiar, you are not alone.

My aim is to offer a calm, supportive space where you feel genuinely heard, understood, and accepted. You do not need to have the right words or everything figured out before starting therapy.

Together, we can explore what is happening for you at a pace that feels manageable. As therapy progresses, many people find they feel more grounded, more confident, more connected to themselves, and better able to navigate relationships, emotions, and life's challenges.

Counselling for Anxiety, Trauma, Complex PTSD and Relationship Difficulties.

I work with adults experiencing:
  • Feeling anxious, on edge, or unable to fully relax

  • Overthinking or finding it hard to switch your mind off

  • Struggling with self-doubt or feeling “not good enough”

  • Finding relationships difficult or repeating the same patterns

  • Feeling unsure of yourself or lacking confidence

  • Difficulty trusting others or feeling safe in relationships

  • People-pleasing or finding it hard to set boundaries

  • Feeling emotionally overwhelmed, or at times shut down or numb

  • A sense of feeling disconnected from yourself

  • Carrying the effects of difficult or painful childhood experiences

  • Grief, loss, or feeling emotionally stuck

I offer a calm, supportive space where we can gently explore whatever you’re experiencing,

at a pace that feels right for you.

Clients often describe me as calm, warm, and easy to talk to. I understand that reaching out for support can feel daunting, particularly if you have spent a long time coping alone or putting other people's needs before your own.

My aim is to build a therapeutic relationship where you feel safe, accepted, and able to explore whatever is bringing you to counselling

My Approach to Counselling

As an integrative counsellor, I draw from different therapeutic approaches to meet your individual needs rather than using a one-size-fits-all model.

My work combines person-centred therapy, psychodynamic understanding, and somatic trauma-informed approaches.

At the heart of my practice is the belief that you are the expert in your own life.

Therapy offers a non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, relationships, and experiences with curiosity and compassion.

Alongside talking therapy, I help clients understand how anxiety, stress, and trauma can affect the nervous system as well as the mind.

Together, we build awareness of these responses so that over time you can feel safer, more regulated, and more connected to yourself.

Get in Touch

Reaching out for support can feel like a big step, especially if you are used to managing things on your own or you are not sure where to start.

Many people get in touch feeling unsure about whether counselling is the right choice for them. An initial session gives us the chance to talk through what you are experiencing, explore what you would like support with, and see whether working together feels like the right fit.

You do not need to have everything worked out before making contact. Sometimes simply recognising that something does not feel quite right is enough of a reason to reach out.

I offer counselling from my private practice in Potton and welcome clients from Biggleswade, Sandy, Bedford and the surrounding Bedfordshire areas. Online counselling is also available for clients across the UK.

You can contact me by phone, email, or by using the contact form. I will respond as soon as I can and look forward to hearing from you.
