A safe, supportive space to heal, grow and reconnect with yourself
Welcome, I’m Karen, an Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor based in Potton,
near Sandy in Bedfordshire.

You may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or constantly on edge, as though something isn’t quite right, even if you can’t fully explain why.

Perhaps you find yourself overthinking, struggling in relationships, or doubting your own worth. You may feel stuck in patterns that are hard to change, or disconnected from yourself in a way that’s difficult to put into words.

For many people, these feelings are rooted in earlier experiences, times when you didn’t feel safe, supported, or truly seen. If this resonates, you are not alone, and there is nothing wrong with you. And often, just recognising that can bring a small sense of relief, as if part of you has finally been understood.

You don’t need to be fixed; you just need a space where what you’re feeling can be understood, held, and gently explored.

This is what I offer, a calm, steady space where you don’t have to have the right words, or any answers at all. We will go at your pace, working with whatever feels most important for you, without pressure or judgement.

I offer both online and in-person counselling, so you can choose the option that feels safest and most comfortable for you. For some people, being in their own space feels easier at first, while others prefer the grounding presence of face-to-face sessions — we can decide together what feels right.

Choosing a counsellor is a deeply personal decision. You may already know you’re struggling, or you may simply feel that something in your life doesn’t feel quite right. Whatever has brought you here, you don’t have to face it alone.

If you feel ready, you are very welcome to get in touch, and we can explore how I might support you.

My Approach

As an integrative therapeutic counsellor, my work is grounded in a somatic-informed, trauma-aware approach, meaning I work with both the mind and body.

Trauma is not just about what happened to you, but about what happened inside you as a result. It isn’t always caused by a single, obvious event.
Trauma can also develop through what was missing growing up — such as emotional attunement, safety, consistency, support, or love. When these fundamental needs are unmet, we adapt in ways that help us survive, but those adaptations can later leave us feeling anxious, disconnected, or unworthy.

You may notice this showing up as difficulties with boundaries, trust, emotional regulation, or a sense of not quite feeling “at home” in your own body. In response to trauma — whether overt or subtle — the body can hold onto stress, tension, and unprocessed emotions. Over time, this may contribute to chronic anxiety, burnout, or physical symptoms.

In therapy, we gently explore these patterns and responses at a pace that feels safe for you. By reconnecting with your body and emotions, we begin to regulate the nervous system and restore a sense of internal safety. This mind-body integration creates a foundation for healing, growth, and meaningful change. It is a process of coming home to yourself — feeling more grounded, empowered, and alive.

At the heart of my work is a person-centred approach. This means our sessions are guided by you, because you are the expert in your own life. I respect and honour your individual experiences, and our work together will always be collaborative and led by what feels most important to you.

I also draw on psychodynamic principles, exploring how early relationships and past experiences can shape the way we think, feel, and relate in the present. By developing insight into these patterns, we can begin to understand how they influence your current relationships and discover new, healthier ways of relating to yourself and others.

My work often supports people experiencing anxiety, stress, and depression by helping them recognise patterns, identify triggers, and develop greater awareness of how they cope and connect.

Beginning counselling can feel daunting, but it is often the first step towards positive and lasting change.
Please feel free to contact me by phone, text, or email.
